Contrary to events frequently seen in action movies, bare fisted fighting often results in serious injury to both the receiver and the deliverer of a closed fist to the face. The third most common bite injury seen in emergency rooms are human bites, and the majority of these occurs as the result of a closed fist directed against a human tooth. Only dog and cat bites are more common.

The 2012 Summer Olympics have ended but thrilled the world with some fantastic efforts and world records. The dedication and efforts of the Olympic athletes inspires all levels of athleticism even in our own community. I have been evaluating many high school and college runners who are ramping up their miles for cross country season. Also the fall marathoners and half marathoners are becoming more familiar.

Earlier this week I was standing at our physical therapy reception desk and was looking at business cards of the clinical staff and it came to me: A lot of our patients may have no idea what all of the letters after our name mean. I thought that it would be a good idea for my blog entry to define these designations that we all worked so hard to achieve.

Over 8 years ago as a college junior, my Mom asked me if I was interested in taking an entire weekend out of my summer to ride my bike 150 miles, I thought she was crazy! Who in their right mind would want to do such a thing?
