Shoulder Dislocation

The shoulder has the greatest range of motion of any of the joints in the human body. It is also the most commonly dislocated joint in the body. The shoulder is comprised of the humeral head (ball) and the glenoid (socket). The shoulder, as opposed to the hip, has a very shallow socket similar to a plate or saucer. The joint capsule of the shoulder encases
the entire ball and socket articulation, and is attached to the socket at the labrum (bumper of tissue surrounding the rim of the socket).

Paperwork, Paperwork, Paperwork.....

paperwork resized 600

Paperwork is a part of our daily lives in most all professions. Most of you know that when you attend a physician’s office or a physical therapy office, there appears to be an abundance of paperwork you must fill out prior to your office visit. The paperwork consists of forms which include insurance benefits, contact and emergency information, medication lists, prior surgeries, allergies, and the list goes on. Some forms contain pain diagrams, or scales that assess your pain, some do not. Typically, these forms take 10-15 minutes to fill out and then you stumble upon the final pages which seem to be questionnaires that try to determine when your symptoms are present and if so with what activities.  These tend to be the most time consuming parts of the paperwork packet in the fact that you have to think about each response before you mark it down. However, these last few pages contain some vital information that may help you and your health care professional along the health care road to success.
