Due to the inclement weather southern New England is expecting on January 12, 2011, Foundry Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will be closed all day.  This includes medical and physical therapy staff and facilities.  We will re-open on January 13, 2011 for normal hours.

Winter has certainly hit the Northeast already this year with our first major snowfall bringing over 1 foot of snow to some areas of Rhode Island.  And with several more weeks of winter to go, we can likely expect to see a lot more of the white stuff across the state.

How Many Pitches Should My Child Throw?

For many years, parents and coaches alike have wondered not only how many pitches a child should throw, but what sort of pitches (fastball, curve, etc) should a child throw. The answer is not set in concrete, but there are some well established guidelines that exist to help make sure that the young athlete is protected from harm.  As a young athlete matures, arm strength and endurance increase, so it makes sense for these guidelines to be age-related.
