Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine

Dr. Plante is a Rhode Island native and a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Tulane University. He earned his medical degree from Brown Medical School and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University. He obtained an advanced fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Rhode Island Hospital and went on to do a fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at UMASS Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Plante has worked with many professional, college, and high school teams including the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Providence Bruins, Brown University, Holy Cross, and the Providence Public Schools. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Plante has lectured both locally and nationally on the latest techniques in ACL reconstruction and rotator cuff surgery, and he has been named an Associate Master Instructor by the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Additionally, he has published numerous articles and book chapters focusing on a variety of orthopedic trauma and sports medicine topics.

Dr. Plante has interests in adult and pediatric injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He has a special interest in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery, ACL and complex knee ligament reconstructions, shoulder instability and rotator cuff surgery, meniscal repair and cartilage restoration, and complex extremity trauma.
